Alan Smith, Freddy Eastwood or Shaun Maloney

While Doc isn't happy about all the talk of new signings in January I'm getting excited by it and can't wait for January 1st.

The rumours today all focus on the one position I think Martin O'Neill will probably leave until the summer, up front. We've got a plethora of striking options at the moment in Angel, Sutton, Agbonlahor, Baros and Moore when he comes back; I just don't think this will be a position Mr O'Neill will rush.

I watched Eastwood against Manchester United the other night and he looked confident and for the right price I reckon he'd be worth a punt. I'd have Alan Smith every day of the week but not on loan.

The last rumour of the day is Shaun Maloney and if I'm to believe what I'm told be a few Celtic fans then he's be an excellent signing and one that Martin O'Neill is likely to be able to get because of his time at Celtic.

Anyway, rumours are rumours but I'd have all three if the conditions were right and it's nice to be linked to the right players.

Agreed on all counts but until I see it I won't believe it.

I think Smith might come to Villa to get fit as I can imagine there are plenty of players who would be happy to play under O'Neill, albeit temporarily.

SMITH - YES, MALONEY - YES.

Maloney is quality and can play in the hole, left wing or direct. he would be a great addition and is only 23.

I agree with the article, we can leave the forwards alone until the summer, unless baros leaves in Jan.

i agree we could wait until the summer for new forwards, but waiting might affect who we could buy in the summer.

we need someone to fire us into europe so quality players will sign at villa park, as for Baros going if we can get 5-6 mil we would be lucky, if we can get that then smith on loan would do to get us to europe then build from there.

we need to sort the defence out before we look to score.
