Rumour has it that Mr Lerner is about to obtain over 90% of shareholder approval for his purchase of the club to proceed. He'll then force the sale of the remaining 10% and according to the Mirror he's going to give Mr O'Neill ?22,000,000.00.
Strange figure I hear you say and how would the Mirror know about this? I'll tell you.
They don't. It's made up and it's something we should accept we're going to hear a lot of from papers like these.
However, even though we all know they've made it up there is an element of hope we should cling to. The article says it's for achieving European football this season and the funds will only be made available if we're still in with a shout.
Wouldn't it be strange, come December 31st, we're sitting in 5th place and Martin O'Neill goes out and spends ?22,000,000.00.
Still, European football should be on the cards for this season. I believe it was achievable last season with the squad we had. It was just the poor manager we had that hindered our chances. Up the Villa!
Remember, you've still got a chance to win a Bostin t-shirt. Just email me with your prediction for the match this Saturday against Watford. All the correct guesses will be entered into a hat and a winner will be picked out.
