Garry O'Connor and James Milner

Sunday's game against West Ham could easily have been 3 points and if speculation is right, then we'll be buying two players who well may have made the difference on Sunday.

Lokomotiv Moscow's Scottish international striker Garry O'Connor has been linked with Villa. He scored 46 goals in 138 games (0.33 goals per game) in the SPL for Hibernian before moving to Russia.

Obviously any Scottish player who was playing in the SPL when O'Neill managed Celtic is a strong candidate for a transfer to VP in the press, but O'Connor was pretty lethal before his move, where he has only managed 5 goals in 18 appearances (although many were as a sub).

Better news is that James Milner is set to speak to Glenn Roeder about a transfer away from Newcastle.

I think Milner was frustrated at being recalled just before a move to Villa Park, one that he was looking forward to making.

I'd love to see James back and I think it's a pretty dead cert that 90% of you would also like to see him back in the wonderful colour of claret and blue.

Once Newcastle's attack is back in order in January (or they manage to tempt someone into joining them) then Milner should be free to move to the Midlands at what is the beginning of a crucial time in the season.

With the majority if injuries starting to pick up in late December, January and February we could do with bringing in James and another couple of players in the transfer window to make sure we don't get caught out if we pick up a couple of injuries.

Patrik Berger's road to recovery and Peter Whittingham recent good form mean we're covered on the left and with Hendrie (and hopefully Milner) we'll have cover on the right too.

The future's bright, the future's Villa.
