Footballing bible the Mirror are predicting that Martin O'Neill is about to make a last minute dash to sign Spurs striker Jermain Defoe.

I like Defoe and think he's a decent striker; one that could become great at Villa Park, not that he couldn't under Martin Jol and Spurs, but if rumours are true that Defoe is unhappy with spending so much time on the bench then maybe the right offer from a team going in the right direction could tempt the 23 year old international.

The thing with this transfer window is we're likely to see lot's of rumours popping up today and although this one doesn't come from a credible source it's one I'd like to see happen.
