Go forth Mr Lerner and rename Villa Park

We ran a poll earlier today asking you what your views were on the potential renaming of Villa Park by our prospective new owner and the results are finally in.

Just under 20% (18.1% to be exact) said it shouldn't be renamed but a total of 79.3% of you said go ahead and rename or only if the money coming in from sponsorship was significant.

First off, I have no doubt that if Villa Park were to be renamed it would only be for a significant figure and secondly for Aston Villa to make the leap into the Champions League we need to see some serious increase in revenue so it's an option that has to be considered and in my opinion carried out if possible.

Some would argue that alienating 18.3% of your customers is a bad thing and it could go all wrong but there is a fine line between success and failure in football; sometimes you've just got to gamble.

For what it's worth, they could rename Villa Park to whatever they wanted but it will always be referred to as 'Villa Park' by me and I suspect by the majority, so why should we care if we're getting enough cash for it?
