Aston Villa about to be purchased by Randy Lerner?

It's all speculation at the moment but reports are everywhere that American Randy Lerner, owner of the Cleveland Browns franchise in the NFL, is about to dip his very large toe into the English national game by purchasing the soon to be mighty Aston Villa FC.

Lerner has his father Al to thank for his copious wealth but is a successful businessman in in his own right and probably knows a good thing when he sees it. Aston Villa is a good thing.

There are lots of questions that we'd like answers to but Aston Villa plc are not saying anything and there is only one source for Lerner, who is also not saying anything, let alone confirming Aston Villa is a prospect for the billionaire.

This would be fantastic news for Aston Villa and we'd love to see something like this happen. I'm convinced that someone like Lerner would be able to demonstrate very quickly that he means business and this would be a massive boost for everyone involved in the club.
