Poor poor Sunderland: O'Leary wanted by potential new owner?

If the rumours are true then David O'Leary will be leaving Villa Park for Sunderland and Martin O'Neill will be joining Aston Villa as the new manager.

If these are true then I feel sorry for Sunderland. In O'Leary they'll get a manager who is tactically inept who wouldn't know how to motivate a team if his life depended on it.

Niall Quinn is backed by Irish race horse owner JP McManus who is more than just a pal of Quinn, we are led to believe he's also his father-in-law. Funds then should be readily available if the father (thought to be a billionaire once interested in Aston Villa) has any trust in his daughters choice of husband.

However, his style of football; hit it long and hope, should get them back into the premiership but we've all seen how useless he is when you have to have a few more tactics than hit it long. I say it should get them back into the premiership but it's just as likely that he'd mess that up also.

If you're a Sunderland fan reading this and he does become your new manager then be worried, very very worried.

Martin O'Neill coming on the other hand would be excellent news for Villa. He knows how to motivate, he's won things and he won't allow for anymore shoddy half hearted displays from the players. He'll instill pride and belief along with a few new tactics.

All speculation at the moment but if we could get rid of O'Leary without it costing too much then it can only be good news.
