Rumours
Apparently, Martin O'Neill is in New York talking to Randy Lerner about the England job

Thursday, 15 November 2007

I'm filing this under speculation until someone at the club tells us this is happening or second choice Steve gets the sack and the bookies refuse to take bets on Martin O'Neill as the next manager of England.

I cant see it happening, or actually a very small part of me can, but I don't want it to happen.

Cahill staying in Sheffield, Riise staying at Liverpool and Carson to start for England

Not loads of paper talk today but what has been written isn't what you'd usually say so there could be some truth in it and I wouldn't be surprised if they were all spot on.

First story up, and some won't like this, is that Gary Cahill is going to make his move to Sheffield United a permanent one.

Happy Slapper: Jonathan Zebina a rumoured target of Martin O'Neill

Friday, 09 November 2007

I've missed my speculation post so I've searched and searched and found a rumour that we could be quite interested in Juventus right back Jonathan Zebina.

Zebina is French, currently at Juventus and if you're interested, there is a video clip of him to the right. I couldn't find one of him scoring or making a tackle so this is what you're stuck with.

Crouch on his way back to Villa Park?

Wednesday, 31 October 2007

It's the Daily Mirror so it really is scraping the barrel but according to the paper most people use when taking the dog for a walk, Marin O'Neill is interested in bringing Peter Crouch back to Villa Park.

I must admit I always liked Peter Crouch and was quite disappointed he left but the manager who let him go was a monkey.

Olof Mellberg off to Juventus?

Tuesday, 30 October 2007

It's only a rumour but it's in the Swedish paper Aftonbladet this morning and they're not known for making up sport stories.

Mellberg's agent Anders Wallensten has said "no comment" when asked about it, which usually means there is something in it, but is it because he wants to leave or there is no contract for him?

Gareth Barry to Chelsea with £15 million coming the other way?

Sunday, 28 October 2007

It's in the People people so don't shoot the messenger, but according to the paper with now quotes, Chelsea may very well be making an approach for him in January.

This is only a rumour but with fat Frank looking more and more likely that he's going to Spain there is every chance that the new manager would rather bring in a new player than play one of the other central midfielders he has.

January speculation begins: Nicolae Dica to Aston Villa

Friday, 19 October 2007

It's not news but what I'm sure is soon to become a solid footballing rumour, mostly because it's not the first time we've heard that Nicolae Dica may become an Aston Villa one day soon.

In January Sky Sports told us that we were interested and Dan Petrescu even said something along the lines that he'd do well at Villa.

Martin O'Neill close to bringing in John Arne Riise from Liverpool?
Written by Damian
Monday, 08 October 2007

It's News of the World time and we all know the score when it comes to the Sun and the News of the World, but according to the paper we nearly signed him in August and we're going to try and bring him to the club in January.

John Arne Riise, big mates with John Carew, is not a happy chap and it's not surprising when you factor in that his manager wanted to replace him with Gabriel Heinze.

A Sunday rumour, a winning Saturday football bet, the new manager of Chelsea and new club website
Written by Damian
Sunday, 30 September 2007

It wouldn't be Sunday without a made up rumour from one of the tabloid rags and today the newspaper not letting us down is the Sunday People.

They've received a telephone call from the agent of Ipswich midfielder Danny Haynes who is either after a new contract for his player or his agent thinks he's got a bit of talent and is trying to generate some interest at Premier League level.

Portsmouth midfielder Pedro Mendes for £3m?
Written by Damian
Wednesday, 26 September 2007

According to the Sun, Martin O'Neill is keen to buy Pedro Mendes in January for £3mn. Remember the key words here; the Sun and keen.

Mendes joined Portsmouth with fellow Spurs team mates Sean Davis and Noe Pamarot for £7mn. in January 2006 and has done a very good job for the south coast outfit, but this isn't the first time we've been linked with the player.
