Martin O'Neill turning down the England job is the beginning of the revolution and the other day I wrote something along the lines of 'when Martin O'Neill turns down England, it will be the beginning of the new Aston Villa'.
I wrote that because I passionately believe that the most important single person within a football club is the manager and my biggest fear was that Martin O'Neill would jump ship at the first chance of a job like England. |

Rumours are circulating this morning that Spurs are 'planning a raid on Aston Villa for defender Martin Laursen' and I just wondered what you'd think if he left.
Laursen is out of contract in the summer so can go talk to clubs in January and if nothing was offered by the club you couldn't blame him if he did leave or sign a pre-contract contract in January. |

Okay, they didn't put in match 'winning performances' but it was nice to see them both start, even nicer to see that a few have even said Stiliyan Petrov could very well be the man of the match yesterday.
Shaun Maloney was substituted at half time and it nearly turned out to be an inspirational move as the team did have a better second half, but he can if he wants to, feel a little aggrieved at it happening as he was the best player we had in the first half. |

Football is typically a working class mans game, its huge popularity based on its accessibility to all, regardless of social status, ability or race.
Therefore there is certainly something wrong when one is expected to pay £45 for a ticket for the forthcoming local derby between Birmingham and Aston Villa.

You'll know my views on Sorensen and I think generally most think we've got better in Carson and Taylor but he's a persistent little bugger.
Today it's all 'I'm a professional' but only a few weeks ago he was demanding talks with the manager and it was the first time I told him to keep quiet. Today is the second time. |

Yes, we've still got most of the season to go but if I was going to predict where we were going to finish I'd say we've found our position and at the same time I'd be more than happy with it.
It's not that the season is over or I'm giving up, the fact is the season was over before the season began, because this season it was all about development and nobody really expected us to compete with the likes of Manchester United or finish top four. |

This deserves a mention, if not for the comedy genius but for the complete lack of any intelligence. According to the BBC, Mark Lawrenson is considered a football expert but personally I don't see it, but I guess that's because I'm not 'inside the game'.
On a few occasions now he has said something on his weekly prediction on the BBC website and it's not made sense, today really takes it to another level, well it does for me. |

If you're a regular visitor you'll know my views on this and they've not changed but I'm starting to see a few cracks on a few other sites and judging by some of the comments we've had it appears the honeymoon period is now well and truly over for Martin O'Neill.
I still have faith, mostly because I have to have faith. I'm actually fed up of the manager merry-go-round we've had at Villa for as long as I can remember and would like to see at least one manager given a fair crack of the whip. |

It's October but I must admit I'm fed up with the excuses. The one getting thrown at us today is age. Apparently it was a young side last night and apparently they'll learn.
You know what, apart from Agbonlahor, Moore and Gardner they were all Martin O'Neill players or old enough to tie their own show laces; it doesn't swallow well and I've had a night to sleep on it.

I've stayed away from this because it was local and didn't really need someone else talking about it but now it's national, it's in The Sun today and according to the paper, Gold is declaring war. It finally deserves a mention.
The porn magnate is none other than David Gold and he's demanded an apology, according to the newspaper, from Charles Krulak, known in the title of this post as the General for liking him to a 'pig in mud'. |
