Aston Villa Blog: An apology
Written by Kevin
Tuesday, 23 August 2005
Today I tried to change something that was working perfectly fine and it ended up with me getting quite a few emails from some unhappy visitors so I'd like to take this opportunity to say sorry.

Basically our feed generator was churning out old URL's because I hadn't changed the settings.

David O'Leary today revelled in his delight as signing Milan Baros from Liverpool for around ?6m.

However, he also revealed that the club had tried to sign Scott Parker and although Parker wanted to join Villa, the club were unable to complete a deal with Chelsea.

O'Leary said "We want quality at this club. I wanted to bring in Scott Parker but the club couldn't do it at that time even though I knew he wanted to play for me."

O'Leary also stated that the search for a good left-back is a priority, as is a centre-back.

Aston Villa have called a press conference for 3:30pm this afternoon to officially unveil the signing of Milan Baros.

The estimate ?6.5m transfer has lasted nearly as long as the drawn out Michael Essien transfer to Chelsea, but has now finally reached it's conclusion.

Milan Baros
Milan Baros
It doesn't get any more official than the official web site and today it has confirmed what we've all waited all summer for.

Villa have agreed a fee with Liverpool for the Czech Republic striker Milan Baros and with only a medical to complete he should hopefully be wearing claret and blue this weekend.

Baros is a quality addition and sure to add credibility to the team and manager.

With the transfer window soon to close maybe this will be the catalyst to further bolster the squad.

David O'Leary said today that he has received no offers from Nolberto Solano, and re-iterated his desire to keep him.

According to Sky Sports, O'Leary has claimed that, while he would never stop anyone leaving the club that wanted to, he has a good relationship with Nobby and has received no offers.

icBirmingham are reporting that Liverpool have accepted a ?6m. bid from Aston Villa for striker Milan Baros.

If this report is correct then the deal should be put to bed very quickly as Baros came out last week saying personal terms had been agreed.

Monday, 22 August 2005
Laursen's ever recurring knee injury looks set to end his season just as it had started.

Laursen flew out to Colorado in the USA to see surgeon Dr Richard Steadman in an effort to end his injury crisis.

It's not nice writing these articles and it's not nice that David O'Leary is a useless manager, but that's another story all together.

Nolberto Solano has come out and publicly said he would rather play for another team.

Double Blow for trip Old Trafford
Written by Luke
Friday, 19 August 2005
Villa will be without Kevin Phillips and Martin Laursen for their trip to Manchester Glazersox at the weekend.

Phillips pulled a stomach muscle and O'Leary has opted to rest the former Saints man to prevent an aggrevation to the injury.

Villa set to lose out on Baros
Written by Luke
Friday, 19 August 2005
Lyon this morning lodged an ?8.5m bid for Milan Baros in an attempt to blow other bidders out of the water.

And I have no doubt that after Villa's debacle over trying to sign the player that Gerard Houllier's bid will do exactly that.
