oh an my wish list:

Any keeper other than Carson
Nedum Onouha (RB/CB)
Anton Ferdinand (CB Back-up)????
Riise (LB/LM)
Kim Kallstrom (CREATIVE MIDFIELDER)
James Milner (QUALITY)

and one of
Peter Crouch
Risk with Sam Vokes
A few million on a foreign striker

We have good back-up from Stephen O'Hallaran and Nathan Delfouneso who have impressed.

AND START MARLON HAREWOOD HE HAS LOOKED DANGEROUS AND RUNS CONSTANTLY. 60 - 70 mins if needed bring on carew. he struggles with the 90.

the wish list sets u back a bit but we HAVE it apparently. - Leavy villa

i think we need 2 centre halfs because zat isnt good enough and we cant depend on laursen to stay fit as we have seen in the past. Letting Cahill go was a stupid decision he is a great player, mellberg is off to so we need cover. even our youngsters have got bad injuries.
Curtis will be a very good defender look at the improvements he has made since his debut.
I would love to see Milner back with us but he is Newcastle's best player.
I think we can attract players of a good quality but its all about the money! Will we pay over the rate wages im talking Boswinga will wat £50k and united want him.
Ws Brown free transfer will be a decent call as he can play right back to. - Leavy villa

Gabby returns to his Winger role?

If Mattie Taylor or Ricardo Quaresma can't somehow be bought, and there's failure to acquire the services of James Milner... I say just get a fast & proven striker and stick Gabby back on the Wing, where he's amazing! Villa would have the best winger tandem on the Earth! Jermaine Defoe would've been ideal in every way. (I can't understand why Portsmouth was not mentioned as a threat to finish higher than Villa.)

Recall Moore for depth... (MON can after 2-3 months, before the loan becomes permanent.)

Sign two true 'EPL top 6' starter quality defensemen (won't be easy...) Maybe Rozehnal from Newcastle? Also add another one or two young'ins for depth.

As far as center midfield goes, Barry's gotta be in the 11 as much as possible as far as I'm concerned. He's the heart of Villa.
Perhaps if an attacker is needed, go for Clint Dempsey of Fulham for a nominal fee. He may just be a real asset. I'm not sure, but aforementioned Mattie Taylor is probably a center mid and he could be a fine addition if somehow possible. How 'bout Stephen Pienaar just as a valuable commodity, or sucking Steve Sidwell from the Blues!

Owen's showing now that he's still got fine quality. However, he just doesn't stay healthy, and therefor is sadly but truly just too expensive for the risk. Newcastle won't be relegated and Owen is not Villa's man.

On the topic of ownership and the possible money issue... Owner Randy Lerner has tons of cash. He pours millions and millions and millions into his Cleveland Browns NFL team. I'd know, I live 40 minutes from there. However, the Browns are HEAVILY supported by a rabbidly loyal fanbase who squirts rediculous sums of money for their tickets. If there's not an enormous following for Villa, and their attendence is quite a bit lower than the top clubs, I can see the wise-spending Lerner being frugal.
I tend to believe the issue is more Mr. O'Neill and his tendency to be frugal and staunchly dedicated to acquiring only quality.

taglor..your the man...you speak the truth,,no dream world stuff..
jfourplusone...you are on the right tracks with those signings..

i was wondering what cock and bull stuff oneil was gonna come up with this summer..wonder who is spin doctor is...i just feel a right dick..cause i believed it all a couple of years ago..but as far as i can see, were no better off from 2006,apart from a few extra quid from finishing higher in the league..a nice new training groung to show all the championship players were trying to sign,,a lovely pub and a new badge....
i just cant wait for the oneil show to start again in the summer..you can hear it now..buy ya season tickets we gonna sign world class players..salifou and routledge..weve got loads of cash to spend..lots of players being sold..were punching above our weight..due to small squad..didnt sign any of the 99 players were linked with due to there wage demands..
do mon and randy think they will get away with it for a third summer running..are we really that thick...
but then again..the yanks are the biggest bullshitters on the planet, and we have one running the club...god its worrying - somersetvilla
Those seven players would pretty much mean we'd be breaking even on numbers, so you've got to fancy those players are in the bag or at the very least lined up.
Yes I'd like to think that too! But I'd also like a Ferrari!

Going on past rep I can see us leaving it late again and not getting ourselves ready for making purchases!

Maybe we should change our badge to "Under-Prepared"! - Woodinho

Investment is needed! My wishlist for this summer:

Artur Boruc (GK)
Miguel (RB)
Kallstrom (MF)
Baptista (Attacking MF)
Forlan (FW)
SWAP Petrov for Nakamura

Any ideas on this list? It;d take a hell of a lot of money to get them all, but some foreign flair would be great! Oh and by the way, Salifou has signed a new deal!

that's a fair argument damian, i certainly agree the small squad excuse no longer holds water. just don't see 10 new players being realistic. actually, would such an influx have a negative effect? - villafandan

Its simple, i want, lol.

1.Kenwyn Jones. (adebayor the 2nd, enough saiA)
2.Michael Owen. (if you watch him he is making the correct run's and he would read the flick on's big John or another player who's good in the air would supply(see above)
3.Deco. (i know i'm dreaming but he would do the job)
4.Riise. (admitidly not as efective as he was, but with a new challenge, opions at left back and midfield, and would'nt you love to hear the kop shout SHOOT!)
5.Wes Brown. (steady, experienced, versatile)
6.Gary Neville. (abit cheeky, but real quality, for a short time)
7.Paul Scholes. (similar reason to above)
8.Given/Harper. (tried and tested)
9.Ben Foster. (similar deal to Carson, but with a result)
10.Quaresma. (another dream but what great balance he would bring)

just my wish list, cover all over the pitch. Also in my opinion quality, experience and youth in abundance. Add these players to what we already have and champions league hear we come)

Is everybody forgetting that Gabby played on the wing for most of the season? Give him a full season playing striker then judge him. Also i agree we need about 10 players because of the players going, but be realistic not every player is going to be 10 million player some will be squad players. If Oneil buys Arteta from Everton and Farfan from PSV are be happy. - dan123

Breaking News - Villa sign new keeper!!

Yes, sources at the club have revealed MON has just signed Heather Mills McCartney as first choice keeper next year.

Sorry, only trying to add some humour! We are a big club thats heading in the right direction, we have had a good season and with several quality signings we can really push on for a top 5 place next year. - jfourplusone

I agree we do need at least 8 - 10 players if we are to compete with the likes of liverpool spurs and everton for the whole season

I belive i late form is bad due to tierd players just imagine if we had a long cup runs with a team this small,it would have been a nightmare :)

At least we got the transfer window to look forward to and the summer holidays europe is now out of our reach >:( - Villa_Rules

cookie_monster

gardner is 21 years old and a midfielder, been asked to play at right back

craig gardner is going to be a huge huge talent in a few years time and letting him go would be a big mistake

he's also scored 3 goals this season - not a bad return for a non striker - Damian

We definitely need more quality and vairety in. Players like Gardner, Knight etc are all dead wood that need shipping to fulham or some other team like fulham. Our strikers don't score enough goals so we need a 20 goal a season striker and definitely an CAM! Randy is worth loads and you have to speculate to accumulate! Martin is not very good in the transfer window he is drowning somebody give him a life ring thingy! Andy, you've made me hungry now- typical fat bloke using food metaphores in relation to his football team! Carson is Shocking. - cookie_monster
