and about the Arsenal goal, well to quote Sir Ferg in BBC's quote of the week:

"it was in the 5th minute of their usual 7 minutes added time"

It really felt like the ref was just hanging on till Arsenal equalised. - villan101

Was at the match and just want to say a few things about the Eduardo chants. To be honest whoever were going to play Arsenal after the Eduardo match would have sung something about him. The Arsenal fans were really quiet and the only time they perked up was when we sung that, so really we carried on singing it only because we could see we were getting some life out of them! Fact is footballers get injured and break things all the time, I don't feel sorry for him because he's a millionaire with a bright career behind and ahead of him, people shouldn't take it so seriously it's just a bit of black humour terrace shouting. Going around singing it after the match though outside the Arsenal now that was a bit out of order...

Imagine if it had happened to us instead and they sung it at us, at the time I probably would have thought "you f'in ar***oles!" but probably afterwards would just realise it's only the usual poking fun.

Basically what I'm saying is if you take a step back and look at it, it isn't really that bad... - Villan101

most of us do. in fact every single club in the world has a section of fans that will sing some sick stuff ... after a few drinks

actually - thats confirmed by the fact that at the very same match there were arsenal supporters chanting 'let him die' when curtis davies was carried off - Damian

I think it just shows how far we've come this season that we're all feeling a bit disppointed at the one all draw with the league leaders one thing our team is beginning to show is great belief in themselves it just a pity that we have tended to get caught in the last minute a couple of times this season
Very disappointing about young Davies I feel he was beginning to play well
One last thing, it wasnt great to hear our fans chanting about Eduardo I wish him well - seanbeag

Jimbo

SG is Singapore..

As I've said, I only read it from the internet about Villa's performance being one of their best from an interview with MON himself. I think it could be from Sky Sports or something, can't remember.. So, I can only judge your team (or any team for that matter) from what i read on the news. I always gather info from every source I can b4 putting up constructive comments on rival's blog.

Even though I'm not from the UK or London, I've supported Arsenal since the early 90s not because they were winning everything but because they were a really good club. Maybe if I had watched Villa instead I might have been a Villan? So guess it was time & chance with what I saw on tele instead of going fanatical with a local team in my country's S-League (which only started in '96).

It seems everytime a rival team (outside the top 4) does well against Arsenal (especially at the Emirates and especially this season), it always bring confidence and beliefs in themselves for future games. Now how I know that? After these matches, I would read all the news available online and always draw that conclusion. I'm not being arrogant to say Arsenal & the other Big 4s has set the standard for everyone else and what Moyes said about Liverpool being favourites for 4th spot instead of his own team and Boro saying how it was near-impossible to reach those heights, just underlined that fact. It's reality for others outside to keep challenging that and I hope these teams, like Villa and Everton, can do it. If it is a 5-year plan, make it work and MON is capable but he needs the support which Jol didn't get at Spurs..

Maybe it will be changed to the Big 6 or even Big 10 in the future if these clubs start to achieve what the big four had been doing the last decade, we can only hope. AW and Sir Alex are the benchmark for managers in the BPL (and the world maybe) now so it's not surprising that their respective clubs have the same tagline..

Anyway, I have my own blog at arsenalsg.blogspot.com so feel free to pop by if anyone is interested to hear my views, brought to you from a faraway land and behind the tele, for analytical reviews on the Gunners. Nice blog here by the way!

SG gooner, I take your point and agree that maybe using the C word was a tad inappropriate. However in the heat of the moment i felt incredibly patronised by your comments, especially you saying it was our best performance. Chealsea at home, liverpool away, newcastle at home, birmingham away, chelsea away are just off the top of my head that were equally, if not probably better performances. To give yourself the luxury of thinking that villa raised their game only because it was "arsenal at the emirates" is just not true.

I understand that maybe being top of the premiership gives you that luxury, and perhaps being in the last 16 of the Champions league gives you the right to overlook the teams lower than fourth in the premiership, and then again perhaps all of those things mean that I'm just jealous ;D

Good luck for the rest of the season, Out of anybody i'd rather arsenal be champions both of england and europe.

P.s What country is SG???

I'm getting a bit fed up of all these sanctimonious Arsenal fans coming on here as if it's the worst thing in the world and when Curtis Davies gets injured there is a minority of Arsenal fans chanting to let him die

Just draw a line under it and stop doing an Arsene - as in, I didn't see it - Damian

Grow up you po faced sanctimonious twats.

Football is two faced corrupt game in the world players claiming loyalty one week and gone the next. managers seeing what they want and ignoring there own players offences.

Jimbo

First of all, im not from the UK needless to say am I from London (SG is a country). I've been a long supporter of the Gunners and proud to see them doing so well. It's also nice to see AW's 3rd generation coming along nicely. True I dont watch Villa play but I know they have been a good team with a good history.. Maybe I am basing my facts on reports in the media of how MON said that it was the best performance of the season for Villa so it's true i might be ignorant, i apologize if I don't know much about Villa..

But to call me and most of us gooners arrogant is not respectful and I've tried to be respectful in your blog as in other rival's blog. Arsenal did play very well at home against Milan so I don't know what your philosophy of good football is - maybe fast wingers who can cross well and the strikers who receives it put it in the back of the net is fantastic to you?

I called it 5-year thingy not as a disrespect but to tell people that I do not know what the details of the plan was, NOT as a disrespect or arrogance. If you feel that way, I respect that about you as you are just a passionate Villa supporter who, like any group of rival fans, only gets personal and call others c*&ts.

As I've said, I like getting into constructive dialogue with like-minded rival fans but your comments doesn't seem to fit in anywhere with what I was trying to say. I praised MON's management of your team and wished you guys success for Q for Europe so I expect likewise from others..

Here's looking OUTSIDE of London, literally... - SGgooner

SG gooner, i know alot about your team, it only seems to be you London folk that are ignorant of the rest of the country. And no that was not your greatest day at the office, but it was definately not our strongest performance either, and if it would have been, we definately would have taken all three points.

Its that kind of arrogance thats guna cost you the league. I watched the Milan game, you were average. good luck in Italy!

oh and dont Insult a message board of villa fans by calling it a 5 year plan thingy. Look outside london u Ignorant c*&t - JimboVillain

The lads were class today, every single one of them. The 2nd goal would have killed Arsenal off but you knew with the 4 mins extra time and a succession of corners that something had to give. You could say Carson was at fault, but to be honest you could say that any goal is a keepers fault, a stab from 6 yards out can beat the best keeper in the world. Great to see Marlon's spirit, the fans love him and he really injects so fuel for that last 20 mins.

I think any one of us would have taken a point before this game, we should have won it, but the performance and the confidence of that team is something to be pleased about. A few acquisitions post season and we'll be class act, I just hope that Petrov does not get back in that midfield because we are a far better team without him.

Nice to see that most of the Arsenal fans that have posted on this site have the decency to leave constructive comments, bar that statement calling us idiots. I like most people on this board do not condone the behavior of our fans, no class. You'd expect that kind of behavior from blues fans and if you were one of those muppets singing maybe you should consider a season ticket at St Andrews next season, this club does not need twats like you. - Jimmy Villain

A tremendous result for Villa, sad about the Curtis Davis injury, how will that affect his transfer to us now he's going to be out for so long? Just a cautionary note, how many more goals are we going to give away in the final minutes. Forget how long was or shouldn't have been added, we have dropped at least six points through late goals (spurs, liverpool and arsenal) and thats off the top of my head. - Oscars Arse

Fuck the fans who sang at Eduardo. Villa had a good day out, Arsenal may be a benchmark for our future performances but it's the run in that counts. If we finish 7th, no Europe unless we win our Inter-toto game. I can see that happening, Everton and Liverpool are stronger at the minute but I have the utmost faith in MON signing some key players in the Summer.

It's all about staying on top of City and Pompey. If we can beat them down and Blackburn implode like always we're set for a good end to the season. That being said, 7th and a crack at Europe would be a fantastic way to end the season considering. - Arrlui
