I'm not into the MLS that much, but I've seen him on tele a few times. I was pretty impressed with him, though. I think he won MLS keeper of the year. With American keepers having as much success in the prem, should we take our chances on Stuart Taylor and this American? It would save us spending 11 mil on Carson, even though I like scotty.. I think the American would cost us no more than 2 mil. We could use that extra 9 mil elsewhere.. what do you think? Why would he have been made captain for that 1 game if he were on his way out, its not like he is a Spurs Legend yet. Barnes is very possible but I doubt Cahill would agree to a move there when he has Birmingham City & Bolton wanting him. Why would he move to basically a relegated team? Wouldnt mind him going to Newcastle though in part exchange for Milner although I doubt the NU fans would be happy with him there as he isnt "high profile" enough for them. I took have the feeling that MON is using Luke Moore as a part exchange for Hutton. What a coup that would be but after todays comments I just dont see it happening. I read on the BBC sports Website that Walter Smith said that he may make a move in the summer but not now. Bisically I would be ok with us bringing in just 2 players this January. A RB & a Right winger. I think Harewood should start a few games as he sounded lively today and give Gabby a rest. When he becomes fresh again he will be like a new striker. I agree with MON on quality over quantity. Id rather we get a quality RB than have 3/4 squad players. I think we can last till the summer with Mellberg (if he is staying that long) at RB as long as we bring in a RW to attack properly. If the Right winger can cross as well as Young we will score bucket loads with Carew. Lyon wanted Baros from us - that's why we got Carew; Maloney was very unsettled, so Celtic wanted him out of the dressing room ASAP. He wants European footy this season, and he doesn't want to leave Glasgow whilst his wife is pregnant until march. It makes sense for him to stay until the summer. Milner or Barnes could happen, though if the Barnes one was likely, i think it already would have. Milner is understandably delayed. Thirdly, the Defoe story has gone quiet because he's smoothed over with Juande, and has been told he is wanted, and therefore he wants to stay. I know it's difficult for MON to get players in, because if one club is holding out for a big sum, every other transfer usually hinges on it, as no one lets a player go without replacing them. When one move that has been talked about for ages goes through, they all will.
