okay back again; at essjaydee again ...

the reason i pick out two, you and anthony is because i dont respond to every single comment. i wasn't rude or disrespectful to anthony - just answering his question.

if you thought i was rude or disrespectful to you then you'd be right. read your first comment again and if you dont understand why i responded in the way i did, i'll explain a little

1st - its not negative EVERYTIME - you writing that is wrong and you're doing it for effect
2nd - i'm fully aware of what this season is about - have been for a long time
3rd - the season is over and i've every right to feel a bit pissed off at that result.

the season is over in terms of us winning something and that, is actually what the game is all about - unless of course you're be celebrating if we finish 7th

i' ddisagree with you about not being in touch - maybe i was when i started about smiler mccann but then most agree with that now. or maybe it was when i started calling for DOL to get the sack - but then, most came round to that way of thinking also - or maybe it's my views on barry

i have no problem admitting when i'm wrong and it does happen but this is a blog. its all about opinion. if you dont agreew with it fine - but done come on here saying, in your very first line
Damian, gees, every time your so negative - EVERYTIME!
when you start off talking bollox and having a pop at me at the same time - naturally i'm going to get a little annoyed

by the look of some of the blogs it's typical villa. by this i mean that expectations have as usual gone through the roof.give mon a chance, everybody expecting us to automatically win something this season is stretching it a bit. ok i don't think all of martins signings have been good i.e harewood, knight but young and maloney are up there with some of the best. please villa faithful remain faithful and have paitence in martin, remember the odreary years. we will win stuff just not yet. we are building for the future and its much brighter than it has been for years. - ozavfc21

After reading the writings of so many experts I have now completely changed my opinion and I am really really happy with losing to Man Utd 2-0 at home, great result and long may they continue. - taglor

@ xandeh, tha is the biggest pile of bullshit i have ever read, guarentee 9/11 of those players dont come, why would we want michael owen, fair enough he is one of the best strikers in the world but he cannot stay fit long enough, so i cant see why he would try to sign owen over anelka, wayne bridge wont come either he isnt first choice at his club now so why would he come to villa and be second choice there specially as u have just said bouma is going to sign a new contract (which i believe he will along with laursen)but i also believe mellberg is off in the summer - Kieran McGrath

There are a lot of rumours circulating about Doyle and Barnes. Ive heard a few times now that they were both spotted at VP on Friday. Apparently the hold up with Doyle is Reading are still considering if they want Moore included or just cash (6.5Mil), who could blame them for second guessing? This move would also see Harewood sent out on loan to perhaps Derby, or Sunderland. Also Riise seems to have come back in to contention as a signing for us, due to a reshuffle at Liverpool as Benitez tries desperatelt to keep his job. At 4.5mil its alot cheaper than 15mil plus for Bosingwa. Hopefully there is some truth there at least these names have come up a few times before! - Leroy

at andy5759. there are potentially 3 euro places for league finishs if all goes to plan in the cups. if a team already qualified for europe wins the league cup, it doesnt go to the runner up but to the league. if another already qualified wins the fa cup, it goes to the runner up but again if they have qualified, it goes to the league.

this happened last year and up to 7th place qualified for europe after chelsea beat arsenal in the league cup and then also beat man u in the fa cup. - Alex Taylor

I don't necessarily agree with everything Damian says, but I always think it's well-informed, and quite often correct, and that's why I always check the blog.

As far as the ManU match, look on the bright side - we don't have to worry about them dumping us out of the FA Cup again for 12 months.

If we're truly getting the big group of players Xandeh says, it'll be interesting. I for one hope that Michael Owen isn't signed, though, because the only thing he offers us is the chance to have an item in the paper every week about how MON is hoping Owen will be fit soon. - Jeremiah

Regarding Damian:
next time i think about writing anything, whatsoever, i'll make sure that instead of just writing down my opinion i'll email every one first so i can agree with what every one else thinks

i mean, having a unique opinion is wrong. 400 years ago i'd have been considered a sorcerer and condemned to death

please essjaydee, forgive me for having an opinion or a train of thought that doesn't just follow everyone else
Slating my opinion with barrels of sarcasm i dont mind, im a villa fan after all. But if your going to dish it out, be respectful enough to take it. You've come back at two people in 505Anthony and myself for disagreeing with your own opinion. which kind of makes your comment above rather hypocritical, ironic and overall amusing.

Regarding JP:
in fact, I'd be interested in what particular issues you feel Damien is so out of touch with?
Sure, no problem, and thankyou for commenting back to me respectfully, without slaughtering my opinion.

just reading through the comments of fans, there's a recurring theme... 'Lets put this into perspective', 'this season has always been about next year', 'whats more important, a top 6 finish and europe or a good cup run' are just three different comments and i could've picked a lot more. So when a statement says 'Our season is over', and the overwhelming majority say otherwise then it is of my opinion that the statement is out of touch with the fans so i commented on it. - essjaydee

The plan didn't come off,but at least we tried. Ultimately the game was won when fresh super quality players were able to come on and give fresh impetus to a very defensively tactical game. If we had 'charged, cavalier-style' I think they would have tonked us. Some say that our players get paid millions, so why are they tired? It really doesn't matter how much you get paid, it's what the body can take; legally. There were plenty of willing horses getting flogged to death. I was impressed by the desire and discipline we showed for long periods. We have made great strides and are continuing to do so, if we had played LUTON or STOKE I'm sure we would have performed better than LIVERPOOL or NEWCASTLE and got a convincing win as we are a good counter attacking team. It's very disappointing that we're out,but it's more important to keep upbeat and look forward to new signings which will see us being a regular top 6 or top 4 team in the near future. - Ipbop14

@ Steve M, thanks for being a fan and reading everything I write, I appreciate it, I will keep writing as long as I like and if you don't agree maybe you could just realise not everybody thinks exactly the same? hard to imagine for you I know. Anyway I agree with you about everything you say and everything you will ever say as well - taglor

I think that the EPL is really 4 mini leagues; top 4 (Prem1), UEFA places (Prem2), mid table (Prem3) and relegation battlers (Prem4). The last few years have seen us in Prem3 and Prem4, we are now in Prem2. Our season now comes down to WINNING Prem2, or even getting up to Prem1. D'ya see what I mean?

ALSO, if Arse win Carling Cup and Manure win FA Cup there will be extra 2 guaranteed UEFA places (correct me if I'm wrong).

Anyway, we fought hard to stifle ManUre, succeeded until last minutes. Quite an improvement on our last game against them. - andy5759

when will we start keeping the ball when playin instead of defending for the whole match - sexyrandygabs

Yeah, ha, I go on there if I'm ever in need of cheering up.
I don't quite think we're about to spend 70 odd million this month do you?

I'd like the pair of them, though the price for Doyle seems a little excessive. Milner I'd love to see back at VP, I think this would be a perfect time to sign him too, before they sack big Sam and bring in someone with a brain!

I've also seen us linked with Bobo Balde a lot recently?
Not too sure what I think about that though, yet. - xandeh

The squad situation i would like to see at the end of january would be-
First team...
Carson
NEW RB,Davis,Laursen,Bouma
BARNES,ReoCoker,Barry,Young
Agbonlahor,Carew

Second team...
Taylor
Melberg,Knight,Cahill,O'Halloran
Salifou,Petrov,Gardener,Berger
Maloney,DOYLE

Out on loan...
Osbourne
Stieber
Mikaelson
Out...
Sorensen
Moore
Harewood
In...
Scott Carson
A new RB
Giles Barnes
Kevin Doyle
My reasons...
Sign Carson he is young and English with bags of potential.A new RB because we need one.Extend Laursen's contract he is class.Barnes is young English quick and has skill.Moore doesnt want to be here so do a swap for Doyle who i think would stick more of our chances in the net.We have to lern to live without Melberg because i think he will be off in the summer, shame because he is a legend.Sorensen and Harewood just arnt villa standard and the young lads i want out on loan all have great talent they just need experience.Thanks. - villa 82

Xandeh, I read that on football-rumours.com? Most rumours on that webite are absolute rubbish. Are we really expected to believe that we'll sign 2 top right midfielders and 4 strikers, what a joke! I've seen in a few places the links between us and Doyle and Barnes. Not too sure if the Doyle signing is what we're really looking for but I'd be pleased with Barnes arriving although I'd prefer the return of Milner. It's been rumoured that Barnes and Doyle will sign this week before the Reading game but then again its only been rumoured. - Jimmy D

LOU, thanks, heard from a source that Doyle was at vp now and wanted to see if anyone else had heard this.

PS. anyone who questions why villa went out against man utd need to look at the subs benches, they have the squad to drop 5/6 players and still put out a very decent side!! The telling factor is they could bring on Wayne Rooney and we could bring on Luke Moore, no disprespect, but they're not the same class.

We have the smallest squad in the league and the xmas fixture pile-up took it's toll, we ran out of steam in the 2nd half of the Spuds game and realy didn't offer anything against Manure, we desperately needed this week to rest and get ready for the rest of the season, bright times still ahead. up the villa.

Another PS. Season over???? I think the season could be about to get better and better!! - Pongo1981

If you're still feeling down about the fa cup game. Read this and have a chuckle.
I have heard from one of the coaching staff at Aston Villa that quite a lot of players will be arriving at the club.

Giles Barnes ( £5 million ) – deal almost done.

Justin Hoyte ( £2.5 million )

Peter Crouch ( £10 million )

Nicole Dica ( £5.5 million )

Michael Owen ( £10 million )

James Milner ( £6 million )

John Arne Riise ( £6.5 million )

Scott Carson ( £8.5 million )

Wayne Bridge ( £7 million )

Shaun Wright–Phillips ( £8.5 million )

Theo Walcott ( Loan )

If Owen or Crouch do not arrive, Martin O'Neil might bring In:

Darren Bent ( £10 million )

Nicolas Anelka ( £13 million )

The players that will be leaving will be:

Thomas Sorensen ( £1 million )
Marlon Harewood ( £2 million )
Luke Moore ( £3 million )
Osbourne ( Loan )
Gary Cahill ( Loan )

Also Martin Laursen, Olof Mellberg and WilFred Bouma will sign new contracts. Laursen and Bouma signing three year deals, while Mellberg will see out the rest of his career with Aston Villa by signing a five year contract - xandeh

six clubs want to loan harewood out for the rest of the season. i think it was derby, middlesborough, stoke, watford, fulham and wigan. they have all been rejected because we have a small squad. - sam_villa1
