I think you're getting him wrong...he says he doesn't want to play "temporarily" for some Japanese team. Full time would be acceptable. Another word to the wise would be to mobile phone salesmen...they could clean up with Sorensen saying he'd sign any contract in front of him. - Robbie

"At this point I am open to all suggestions," said Sorensen. "If somebody shows me a contract, I will sign it, no matter what the offer is.

"But at the same time I don't want to play temporarily for some Japanese club either."

Sorensen hates the Japanese apparently... - Arrlui

Yeah I agree, though we should probably sign another replacement if only just for back-up. Obviously it's a shame to see someone like him leave, but you cant blame him if he wants Champions League football. After all the services he's given to this club, maybe it is simply time for him to move on anyway.

He would be welcomed back, though he's pretty old now and would probably not be good enough in a few years... but who knows? He may even take up a coaching role. His experience would be great for upcoming youngsters.

I agree with the board comment too. It's so reassuring to know that there is a decent backing behind the club.

If Mellberg does decide to leave us (which is looking likely) I hope that no-one boo's him. He has put in great service for our club and I for one will really miss him, he is one of my favourite players and i hope he leaves for a team in the Champions League as he deserves it. It wont be too bad as long as we get Laursen signed up. - the_flabster

Shame if Mellberg does go, must admit I have enjoyed watching him play over the years.

That Jose Bosingwa quote really doesn't mean a great deal, only that he's pushing out the line that is expected of someone under contract, which is a good thing in my mind; it means he's not someone who's necessarily going to kick and scream his way out of a club. It doesn't really rule the move out, but it does keep the Porto fans on his side if it doesn't happen.
And its always nice to have a board that know what they're doing. If the club conducts itself well, it breeds behaviour throughout. - Robbie

That Michael Cunnah geezer will surely be part of the redevelopment team, given Randy Lerner and his board want to make Villa Park into a more welcoming place. Shame about Mellberg and the José Bosingwa thing is inconclusive, he never said no to a bid from an English club, just said he doesn't fancy it. Couple of grand more will fix that ;) - Dizzy Mugs
