I'm from Bari and I saw and appreciated Cowans when he was here.
He was a great football player and in that period I become an Aston Villa supporter.
I hope a day to visit Villa Park.
Forza Aston Villa.
bye

Gordon Cowans. Six stone soaking wet but could tackle like Norman Hunter (if any one can remember him) pass like Glen Hoddle (dont want to remember him!) and shoot like Steve Gerrard. Fantastic player so underated in his time except by Villa fans. wish we had him now. Thanks for the memories and good luck Sid! - moocher

I think if we throw Sid some boots he could do a good job for 90 minutes still :P he'd be slow but he's still got the class. - Dizzy Mugs

I'll spell it out once more - The whole island of Ireland is part of the British Isles (geographically). However, it is not part of Great Britain politically.

What we lack in our midfield now is anyone approaching Sid Cowans. I think Petrov was brought in to provide that role (creativity) but has been found sorely lacking. Mind you, Sid was one-in-a-million. - Baldy

Too right..Sid Cowans was a hero and still is.
Fair play to Adam for such an in depth post. I'd nearly forgotten some of the great times / players mentioned.
UP THE VILLA :) :) - AV33

Well Northern Ireland is But Eire(Ireland Southern)is a seperate country and you need a passport to get in, so no its not part of Britain. Sid was the best midfielder though and still has the skill. - R Dunbar

Apologies to everyone for being so off the point. However i have read a few good reports on Salifoe playing for the reserves and wondered if anyone who had been to the games could give me an honest opinion on how good this boy is. Is he good enough to break into the first team asap?

Again sorry for being so far off topic! - Villa4Europe
